Microsoft to Reveal Next Generation Xbox Consoles at E3 2019

Microsoft is Gearing Up for Next Gen Xbox According to Job Listings

It’s no secret that Microsoft has been working on the next generation Xbox consoles. After all, they admitted it themselves on E3 2018 last year. Now, it seems that we may be seeing these new consoles sooner rather than later.

In a new report from French publication JeuxVideo.com, it is said that the company will unveil the next two iterations of the Xbox this summer at E3 2019. The much-rumored “Scarlet” project will take form as two separate Xbox devices, one codenamed “Anaconda” and the other “Lockhart.” These codenames stem from a previous report which was released this past December and contained the same details.

JeuxVideo says that Xbox Lockhart will be a more entry-level device for those looking to simply get into the Xbox ecosystem. The Xbox Anaconda will be a higher-end premium product much like the current Xbox One X is. Anaconda will boast higher specs when it comes to the GPU and RAM from what is being reported.

Previous reports also state that Microsoft plans to release these consoles later in 2020, although the reveal itself is now said to happen come June. What form this reveal will take though is still very uncertain. Either way, it is very possible for them to announce it in June, and have it released in 2020 still.

On the software front, JeuxVideo also says that Halo Infinite is set to be a launch title for both the Anaconda and Lockhart. Despite launching with the new platforms, it is also reported that Halo Infinite is still planned to arrive on the Xbox One as well. Considering how little we know about Halo Infinite at the moment, a 2020 launch seems pretty likely. If new hardware is also coming out next year, it’d make sense to launch alongside the next generation Xbox consoles

At the moment, nothing has been officially confirmed so take this information with a grain of salt. With Sony not presenting anything at E3 2019, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Microsoft go all out for the show. While the announcement and the release seems to have quite a bit of gap, it will still be a good showing and get Microsoft some needed buzz for their upcoming machines.
