The Razer Edge gaming device will be available for purchase in the US on January 26 through a partnership with Verizon. There are two versions of the Razer Edge: a Wi-Fi only model and a Verizon model. The Wi-Fi model costs USD $400, while the Verizon model has a retail price of USD $600. However, Verizon is currently offering a limited-time promotion where customers can get the Razer Edge for USD $360 (USD $10 per month for 36 months) with a new contract.

Additionally, if customers purchase a new 5G smartphone along with the Razer Edge 5G, the price of the gaming device will be reduced to USD $180 (USD $5 per month for 36 months). The Wi-Fi model can be reserved today on Razer’s website. Both versions of the Razer Edge come with a detachable Kishi V2 Pro controller and include the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless earbuds in the Founders Edition, which costs USD $500. It is unclear if the Razer Edge can make phone calls.

The Razer Edge gaming device is powered by the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 processor, which is based on the Snapdragon 888. It comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, which can be expanded with microSD cards up to 2TB. The device also has active cooling, allowing it to sustain higher performance levels than a smartphone.

One of the standout features of the Razer Edge is its 6.8-inch AMOLED display, which has a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. This display is larger and has a higher resolution and refresh rate than the displays on the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, both of which have 7-inch displays with a resolution of 720p and a refresh rate of 60Hz. There is no information available on the touch sampling rate of the Razer Edge.

The Razer Edge gaming device is equipped with Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, which allows users to stream games from their gaming PC or console and use game streaming services. It is also powerful enough to handle native Android gaming and emulation.

The Verizon comes with 5G connectivity, both sub-6GHz and mmWave, for low-latency connections and minimal lag. The device also has Bluetooth 5.2 and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the controller. For audio, it features 2-way speakers with THX Spatial Audio and 2 microphones for voice chat.

There is a single 5MP front-facing camera on the device, which can record Full HD video at 60FPS. It has a 5,000mAh battery, but there is no information available on its charging speed. The Razer Edge weighs 264g, and this weight is doubled when the controller is attached.

Pokdepinion: I would like to give this a try but at the same time, I’m not sure if it would do well since a lot of smartphones can do pretty much the same thing. I would have rather had a brand new Razer Phone with new gamer-centric features instead.
