New Nintendo Switch Model Nearly Doubles Battery Life

How to Identify New Nintendo Switch Model with Improved Battery Life

As we reported before, there is a new Nintendo Switch model based on the original but has better battery life. Nintendo claimed that it would bolster 4.5 to 9 hours of battery. This would be a significant improvement from the original model that only supported about 2.5 to 6.5 hours. Now that the system is out in the wild, the folks over at Tom’s Guide were able to put it to the test.

They ran an endless 8-player CPU battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on both the systems. On both games, the AI difficulty was ramped all the way up as well as items just so that the match would be as hectic as possible. On top of that, they turned the brightness to the max and turned auto-brightness and auto-sleep off.

The new version of the Nintendo Switch ran for about 4 hours and 50 minutes before the battery ran out. The old Switch only lasted about 2 hours and 45 minutes before running out. The new Nintendo Switch model almost doubled the battery life of the original. While the results may vary with different games, this is still a surprising result to see.

While many people may not be interested to upgrade their system solely for better battery life, this will certainly raise the enticement factor by a huge amount. Even for me personally, the idea of having much longer battery life while on the road will be a great deal.

Pokdepinion: The temptation to upgrade is real but I think I will wait for the iteration with beefier hardware instead.
