Ubisoft has just revealed new details surrounding their second season of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Year 6: North Star. These include Thunderbird, a new indigenous Operator, coming from the Nakoda nation, a North American First Nation, in addition to an entirely reworked Favela map, and more.

Rainbow Six Siege’s Second Season of Year 6: North Star introduces Thunderbird

Players will meet a brand-new Defender in Rainbow Six Siege Year 6: North Star: Thunderbird. She can set up a Kóna Healing Station, which heals any nearby player, ally or enemy, even if they are downed. Each charge at the Kóna Station is followed by a cooldown period. Thunderbird is a low-armour, high-speed operator with a primary weapon of a SPEAR.308 or SPAS-15 and a secondary weapon of a BEARING 9 or Q-929.

North Star also includes a redesigned Favela map with spaces, a clearer map description, and improved navigation. These updates will increase readability, ensuring that players on Favela still know where they are and where they are going.

Two new features will be tested on Test Servers: a redesigned armour system and behaviours after death. Players’ armour will be transformed to additional health so that they can see the effect of their armour more clearly. Players will also have new activities available after death, with Attackers being able to monitor their own drones and some Defenders being able to use their gadgets (including Maestro, Echo or Mozzie).

These changes will significantly affect gameplay in Rainbow Six Siege and will need to be reviewed to obtain input from players. They will only be available on the Test Server at North Star’s launch, and will not be available on live servers.

Additional updates coming with North Star include:

  • Scoreboard 2.0
  • New corpse icons
  • Bullet holes fix
  • Operator balancing (Melusi, Mira, and Maestro tweaks and Gas Propagation rework)

The Test Server for North Star will go live on May 25. Players are invited to submit the issues they encounter on the Test Server on the R6 Fix platform here.

Pokdepinion: I envy those who can play Rainbow Six Siege properly. I really like the game but I absolutely suck at it.
