Spyro Reignited Trilogy

Pokde Picks: 5 Awesome Games to Look Out For in November 2018

Every gamer’s favourite purple dragon is making a comeback in Spyro Reignited Trilogy. The game is a 3D platformer and a collection of remasters consisting of the original three Spyro games which first released on the PlayStation between the year 1998 and 2000. Those three games are Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Players will get to relive their adventures with the iconic purple dragon as he saves the dragon race, take down the villainous Ripto, and retrieve all the stolen dragon eggs from various worlds. While the compilation will contain all three games, only the first game will be available in physical form. The remaining two games will have to be downloaded as an in-game update for the PlayStation 4.

Fun fact, while Spyro Reignited Trilogy is being a called a remaster, that is not exactly an accurate description. Instead of taking the game’s existing assets and making them look better, Spyro Reignited Trilogy was built from the ground up. This means that every single thing in the compilation had to be recreated again and the developers made sure to make it as accurate as possible.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4 on 13th November 2018.

Fallout 76

The prequel to the previous mainline entries to the Fallout series, Fallout 76 is an action role-playing game by Bethesda Game Studios. It is set in an alternate version of history and takes place in the year 2102, 25 years after a nuclear war that devastated the Earth.

The player character is a resident of Vault 76, a fallout shelter that was built in West Virginia to house America’s best and brightest minds. The player character exits the Vault on “Reclamation Day” as part of a plan to re-colonize the Wasteland. Unlike previous entries, Fallout 76 has a bigger emphasis on online multiplayer in this huge open world environment.

Fun fact, Fallout 76 utilizes a modified version of Bethesda’s game engine, the Creation Engine, which was made to accommodate multiplayer gameplay. This new game engine also resulted in Fallout 76 having roughly sixteen times more details than a regular Creation Engine game due to its accurate terrain mapping, rendering process, and integration of new lighting models.

Fallout 76 will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 14th November 2018.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead

Pokde Picks: 5 Awesome Games to Look Out For in November 2018

Arguably the most highly-anticipated adaptations of The Walking Dead series, Overkill’s The Walking Dead is a first-person shooter game based on the comics of the series. Set in Washington D.C., after an outbreak has brought the dead back to life, players will take on the role of four people brought together by necessity and the willingness to do whatever it takes to stay alive; Aidan, Maya, Grant, and Heather.

Players will have to cooperate with the other people in the team to explore the capital after the outbreak and discover what has truly happened. Not only that, you will have to gather loot, supplies, and other survivors in order to survive in this post-apocalyptic world. However, players will have to tread lightly as even the slightest of sounds can attract the dead.

Fun fact, while Overkill’s The Walking Dead will be based on the comics, the development studio was given the opportunity to interpret the source material and create the game as they see fit. The creator of the comics, Robert Kirkman, was also involved in the game’s production. As such, we may see events that are unique to the game itself.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead will be coming to PC on 6th November 2018 and sometime next year for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Battlefield V

The sequel to one of the most popular shooters today, Battlefield V is a first-person shooter game by Electronic Arts. The game will continue on the story from Battlefield 1 by focusing on a never-before-seen portrayal of World War II. From paratrooper assaults to tank warfare, charge into pivotal battles in the early days of the war viewed from a brand new perspective.

Battlefield V will also include the Grand Operations mode and Firestorm mode. Grand Operations will focus on matches taking place in multiple stages to simulate a campaign from the war. Firestorm on the other hand is the series’ take on the popular Battle Royale mode which was made popular by games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Fun fact, the Battlefield V announcement trailer was met with heavy criticism for a lack of historical accuracy and authenticity, particularly on the use of weapons, prosthetics, and body art. The game’s Executive Producer, Aleksander Grøndal, went on Twitter to explain that the team has “always put fun over authenticity” when it comes to creating their games.

Battlefield V will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 20th November 2018.

The Quiet Man

One of the newest titles by Square Enix which was first teased at E3 2018, The Quiet Man is a story-driven cinematic action adventure game set in New York City. Players take on the role of Dane, a deaf man who is searching for a mysterious masked man with regards to a kidnapping of a songstress. All of the events in the game is said to take place within a single night.

Unlike most other games, players will be experiencing the game just as the character does; with very little distinct audio and no subtitles to aid the players. Players will then have to make up their own interpretation of the story as you search for the masked man.  This could even lead to unique experiences with every time you play again from scratch.

Fun fact, The Quiet Man has a bigger focus on narrative as opposed to actual gameplay, similar to Telltale Games. As such, the game length isn’t expected to be lengthy. In fact, developer Square Enix has gone on record to say that the game can be completed in one sitting.

The Quiet Man will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and PC on 1st November 2018.
