PlayStation 4 Sales Surpassed 91.6 Million Units By End of 2018

The folks over at Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore has announced a new milestone for the PlayStation 4 console. It appears that sales for the console has surpasses 91.6 million units worldwide by end of 2018, with about 5.6 million units sold during the holiday season alone.

It wasn’t just the console that was doing well as there were 50.7 milion PlayStation 4 games sold worldwide during the holiday season. This number contributed to the 876 million PS4 games sold for the entire year by end of 2018.

John Kodera, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said:

Thanks to the continued support from our fans during the holiday season, we are pleased to announce that PS4 has reached 91.6 million units globally. We are also happy to announce that the monthly active users of PlayStation Network continue to show strong Growth and has surpassed 90 million as of end of November 2018.

Kodera also mentioned that they will be bringing more “enhanced experiences” to gamers along with a “highly anticipated lineup of games” on the PlayStation 4. Guess that will start with Kingdom Hearts 3 coming out on 29th January 2019.

Pokdepinion: I’m hoping it would manage to 100 million units by end of 2019, just because it’s a nice round number, but I wonder if that would be too difficult given its lifespan.
