Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan Investing RM10 Million Into eSports in Malaysia

Earlier today, we reported about Budget 2019 having RM10 million allocated to MDEC for eSports in Malaysia, which you can read about by clicking right here. After seeing the tweet from the Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan shared his thoughts and dropped a huge bomb…in a good way of course.

In said tweet, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan praised the move and announced that he will be investing RM10 million for eSports development in Malaysia.

The RM10 million from Budget 2019 will be used to foster the growth of eSports in Malaysia. Specifically, it was to help groom new talents to become champions along with aiding in games development. With the industry now valuated at USD $180.1 billion, it is expected to grow even larger next year.

For now, there’s not much details as to how the RM10 million investment by Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan will be utilized or if the money will also go to MDEC, effectively doubling what they have from Budget 2019. One thing’s for sure, we can expect some big things coming our way next year.

Pokdepinion: It’s certainly great to see some steps being taken to further evolve the industry in Malaysia and the year isn’t even here. I have some big expectations when the new year is finally here but for now, let’s just see what they will have in store for us.
