New PS4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition Announced – Celebrates New PlayStation Milestone

The global sales for PlayStation hardware has reached yet a new milestone. To celebrate this, Sony launched the PS4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition.

It would appear that Sony has a reason to celebrate as total accumulative PlayStation hardware sales has reached 523.5 million units worldwide. To celebrate the impressive milestone, the folks over at Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore has officially announce a brand new, special design console to commemorate it. It’s known as the PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition console.

The new limited edition console will come with 2TBs of storage, AC power cord, HDMI cable, Micro USB cable, User Guide, Warranty, and the followiing items with the 500 Million Limited Edition design:

• DualShock 4 Controller
• PlayStation Camera
• Vertical Stand
• Mono Headset

Starting from the original PlayStation’s debut on 3rd December 1994, brand has continuously evolved and played a role taking technology multiple steps forward. Such an example is the use of CD-ROM instead of the more popular cartridges as it was more cost-efficient to produce and is able to hold a lot more data in it.

Taking into account every single PlayStation hardware that has been released until today such as the PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3, PS Vita, and the current generation PS4 console, they have surpassed 523.5 million unit worldwide. The PS4 itself has surpassed 81.2 million units worldwide as of 22nd July 2018.

Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO, John Kodera, said:

PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition has been created to represent our appreciation to our loyal fans. We will continue to make PlayStation the best place to play for all, as does our continued commitment to expanding our library of great games and variety of network services.

The PS4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition console will be retailing for RM2,149. It will be available starting 24th August 2018 at PlayStation Authorized Dealers and Sony Centres in Malaysia. However, keep in mind that there will only be 50,000 units available so it may only be available in certain outlets. The DualShock 4 of the same design will also be available as a standalone purchase for RM259.
