One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 Surprise Announcement

The last time we saw the One Piece Dynasty Warriors spin-off game was four years ago. There have been three entries to the series but after it went completely quiet, many assumed that we won’t be seeing anymore of that. That is until a surprise announcement for One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 came about.

The game is expected to play out just like its predecessors with its Dynasty Warriors-style hack and slash gameplay. Bandai Namco assures that the game will cover various story arcs from the series. However, they didn’t mention specifically which. Based on the trailer seen at the top of this post, we can safely assume that the highlight for now is the  Whole Cake Island arc featuring Big Mom.

Given the release window of 2020, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be the final arc in the game. As the manga is currently in the midst of the Wano Country arc featuring the Strawhat Crew, Beast King Pirates and Kaido, we might have enough time to see that being adapted into the game.

One thing we can be certain of is that we will definitely get the Dressrosa arc featuring Shichibukai Doflamingo as it precedes the Whole Cake Island arc. As for playable characters, we can’t say for sure just yet. While we can see Luffy in Gear 4th / Boundman form, it might not be a standalone character and just a transformation form like how Gear 2nd and 3rd works in the past.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC sometime in 2020.

Pokdepinion: I’m actually hoping it will cover the Kaidou arc as well. Might seem tough but given the release window and where the manga is at right now, that might be possible still.
