Deep Silver and 4A Games has just announced the launch of Metro Exodus for the new Gen 9 consoles, the Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5. As you would expect, the updated version of Metro Exodus will feature raytraced lighting effects, including raytraced global illumination (RTGI) and Raytraced Emissive Lighting techniques that debuted in the Two Colonels expansion.

Similar to the recent Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition, the fully raytraced experience will take advantage of a overhauled 4A Engine and fully raytraced lighting pipeline. Metro Exodus will run at 4K60 on the latest generation of consoles.

On top of that, gamers will enjoy faster loading times thanks to the engine being capable of using the SSD storage optimizations on the latest consoles. There are also updated 4K texture packs and stuff like spatial audio, controller latency improvement on Xbox, as well as improved haptic on the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.

Gamers can enjoy the upgrade for free, if they already own a copy of the game on their last-gen consoles, or if they purchase the Metro Exodus Complete Edition on the Gen 9 consoles, which will feature the base game and both DLC expansions for the game: The Two Colonels and Sam’s Story.

Pokdepinion: 4K60 on the consoles does seem like a rather lofty goal…
