PS5 Price and Release Date Allegedly Leaked

As many of you may know by now, the PlayStation 5 is expected to be released sometime in Holiday 2020. However, we may have a clearer idea on when, and its price, as the PS5 price and release has been allegedly leaked.

First seen on Reddit and social media, the leak suggested that the PlayStation 5 will be priced at USD $499.99 (RM2030.01 approximately) and will be coming in October 2020. The leak stems from a 4chan user who chose to remain anonymous for obvious reasons.

What’s interesting here is that the leak also suggested that the PS5 will launch with only the base model, with no secondary model available. The hardware specifications is expected to match up with the Xbox Series X, but it will also cost USD $100 less. Moreover, it is expected to have full backwards compatibility, being able to play games from every PlayStation generation. No word yet on whether this refers to digital on physical copies.

Lastly, the PlayStation 5 is expected to be officially unveiled at the PlayStation Meeting which is currently planned for 5th February 2020. The event will see the reveal of the highly-anticipated console in its entirety, the user interface, as well as the new DualShock 5 controller. As for launch games lineup, we’re expected to a new Horizon Zero Dawn, a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man, Gran Turismo 7, Demon Souls Remastered, Godfall, MLB The Show 21, and Legendz.

As there is no evidence being presented, it’s hard to believe this leak. However, details seem to be consistent with existing information. Rather than calling it fake outright, it would be best to wait and see if the PlayStation Meeting becomes a reality or not, even if the date is slightly different.

Pokdepinion: My personal speculation is that the PS5 will release no later than November 2020, and that it will be priced at USD $399.99 instead. The price suggested by the leak is a bit too close to the PS3, which many weren’t keen on adopting at first due to the high price. We’ll just have to wait and see.
