It’s no secret that Sony has not given up on virtual reality. Many gamers have expected to see a PlayStation VR 2 sometime in the future that can make the technology better suited with the new hardware of the PS5. It appears that the PSVR 2 may pop up sooner rather than later.

The information stems from the financial report of the publisher of Immersive VR Education Ltd (Apollo 11 VR and Titanic VR). In the financial report, the PSVR 2 was mentioned.

In 2020, Sony will release PlayStation 5 and a new version of the PlayStation VR headset (PSVR), which will further expand the high-end VR user base – the group intends to support this device with its current software package.

The PlayStation VR is one of the most successful premium VR headsets around. You get the complete VR experience at a rather affordable price compared to the competitors like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. It did lack some of the more advanced features but that is expected to be addressed with the PSVR 2. Some of the new features expected are eye-tracking and wireless connectivity.

Recent leaks have suggested that the PlayStation 5 will be officially unveiled sometime in February 2020. It was also suggested that the PSVR 2 may appear alongside the console. No word yet on an exact release date but we’ll be reporting more on this as soon as information becomes available.
