Wondering if the upcoming Nintendo Switch-exclusive Super Mario Odyssey can be played with more than 1 player? Check out the game’s co-op gameplay footage.

Super Mario Odyssey Co-Op Footage Released

Nintendo has recently released a new video on the upcoming Nintendo Switch-exclusive Mario game, Super Mario Odyssey. The video gives a look at the game’s co-op feature, with one player controlling Mario, and the other controlling his new friend (and hat) Cappy.

With Cappy, players can move semi-independently (within a limited distance from Mario), and Mario can still throw his hat around without having to rely on the second player if necessary.

We get to see lot of exploration in the Wooded Kingdom, with the customary hunt for coins, moons, and location-specific currency, that allows the player to access the local Crazy Cap Store and purchase new outfits and hats for Mario.

The game’s capture feature is also showcased extensively, especially on local plant enemies that allow Mario to climb. Cappy can also clear the poisonous goo on the ground, because it’s definitely a good idea to wear a cap that you just used as a mop, to clean poison nonetheless.

You can check the video at the top of this post. It is the 16th title in the Super Mario series, the 7th original 3D Mario title, the 8th 3D Mario title overall, and the 6th 3D Mario title on a home console after Super Mario 3D World. Once again, Super Mario Odyssey will allow players to explore an open-world environment.

Super Mario Odyssey will hit store shelves worldwide exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on October 27th 2017.

Pokdepinion: Well, if you ever wanted to play mainline Mario games with another player, look forward to Super Mario Odyssey. Can’t help shake the feeling that Cappy barely needs a player to control it but hey, it’s something.
