It looks like the new Alienware 18 has has landed with new weaponry under the hood. Alienware has just teased us with a video on their YouTube channel showing off their newest gaming laptop.

Three processor options are available, ranging from the Intel® Core™ i7-4710MQ, Intel® Core™ i7-4910MQ and the highest end part, the Intel® Core™ i7-4940MX. It will come with 16GB of DDR3 RAM, upgradeable up to 32GB. The Alienware 18 gets its name from the 18.4 inches screen which is a PLS panel with a resolution of 1920x1080p with is pretty decent. Talking about the graphical processor the Alienware comes with dual GPU configuration in SLI setup of either the Nvidia GTX 970M or the Nvidia GTX980M.

Connectivity is powered by Killer Network ethernet and AC wireless is supported thanks to the Broadcom 4352 802.11ac adapter. Alienware 18 weighs around 5.5KG which is quite heavy for some gamers. Pricing starts from RM10,000, and you can customize it with upgrades with additional charges, of course.

Pokdepinion : Alienware is well-known in the Malaysia market. The Alienware 18 really has great specifications albeit with some turn-off features. I love the PLS panel which will give you a better picture quality. But even with the basic SLI GTX 970M configuration, the GPUs are just overkill. Dell should have put a 1440p display that I believe would be better choice, but please don’t go for a 4K display. Alienware may be trying to future proof the laptop though, as laptops get outdated really quickly even with MXM GPUs as the MXM cards are extremely rare. Another thing that is playing on my mind is whether the Alienware 18’s screen supports Nvidia GSync?
