Spotify has said that they will be introducing a new and more personalized way for users to discover music and listen to what they love on the platform for free.

With it being free, it is of no surprises that it will be ad-supported. The update will be coming out globally to all users of Spotify on iOS and Android. It features a new design on mobile and features a number of new ways for listeners a listening experience that is more tailored to what they want to hear.

They will be bringing On-demand playlists where they have that they want their users to have more control over the listening experience so that users can both discover new artists as well as return to old favorites. There will be 15 new on-demand playlists, offering the ability to pick and play any track within their curated list.

These playlists will be unique, specially made for you, where it is based on your musical tastes and this may include Spotify-curated playlists ranging from RapCaviar and K-Pop Daebak to Ultimate Indie and Alternative R&B as well as personalized playlist such as Discover Weekly, Release Radar, and Daily Mix.

So if you’re new to Spotify, you will be asked about the artists that you love, and they will curate a playlist that suits your taste. You also have the option to Like or Hide songs and artists that you you want to listen to more or dislike. Tap on the ‘love’ symbol button to quickly save songs to your Favorite playlist and the block icon to hide songs that you don’t want. Recommendations from Spotify will get better over time as you listen and click on more icons.

When you’re making a playlist, they will also suggest songs that they think that you would enjoy. Now with all this streaming, you’ll bound to use high amounts of data, especially when you are outside. So they have come up with Data Saver, where it lets users listen while using less mobile data.

The new free experience from Spotify will be rolling out globally to all markets in the coming weeks.
