Almost 18 Million Nintendo Switch Units Shipped – From Launch Until End of March 2018

Nintendo has shared some numbers with regards to their gaming consoles, which includes the Nintendo Switch, the handheld Nintendo 3DS, and even the older Nintendo Wii U for comparison. It’s a huge feat by the Japanese gaming giant.

Almost 18 Million Nintendo Switch Units Shipped

The folks over at Nintendo have updated its lifetime shipment totals for the Nintendo Switch and the handheld Nintendo 3DS to March 31st 2018, and it would seem that there is indeed a good number of the new console reaching store shelves worldwide.

As you can see in the picture at the top of this post, lifetime shipments for the Nintendo Switch has reached 17.79 million as of March 31st 2018. At the same time, its older handheld 3DS sibling reached 72.53 million units shipped, which is a huge number.

Essentially, this means that the Switch shipped 2.93 million units in the first three months of 2018, and 15.05 million units during the past fiscal year. Interestingly, the manufacturer’s forecast was quite spot on, and actual shipment exceeded it by 50,000 units.

The numbers for the Nintendo Switch are definitely impressive considering that they have been achieved in little more than a year since its launch on March 3rd 2017.
