The Ryzen APUs have made their appearance in the mobile area, with exemplary performance at a low TDP of just 15W. AMD is now set to conquer the desktop space with Ryzen Desktop APUs which come with Radeon RX Vega graphics. These APUs are designed to offer unprecedented value-for-money and performance that is only possible from an APU.

AMD promises gaming performance on par with a Intel Core i5-8400 + NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 with a single Ryzen 5 2400G APU. While the Intel + NVIDIA setup would cost you $288 (~RM1123.49), AMD is charging just $169 (RM759) for similar performance. Processor vs processor, the Ryzen 5 2400G trumps the Intel Core i5 8400 with 156% better graphics performance, 21% higher system performance and overclocking headroom to offer 39% better graphics performance.

Speaking of overclocking, the CPU, DRAM and GPU settings can be tuned via the AMD Ryzen Master overclocking utility. If you aren’t one to get down and dirty meddling with the settings, AMD SenseMI and Precision Boost 2 will allow your Ryzen Desktop APU to perform at its best. Gamers can also take advantage of the Radeon FreeSync adaptive refresh rate technology for a smooth gaming experience.

The icing on the cake? The Ryzen Desktop APUs with Radeon Vega Graphics are compatible with the current crop of AM4 motherboards. Priced at just RM479 for the Ryzen 3 2200G and RM759 for the Ryzen 5 2400G, the Ryzen Desktop APUs are a steal!

Pokdepinion: Hmm a great alternative to the Intel Core i5 CPUs for gamers.
