ASUS released their latest high-end ultrabook, the ASUS ZenBook Pro UX501. This powerful ultrabook is a sexy hunk of aluminium only 2.67 cm thin and weighs only 2.26kg. It looks very sleek with the slim design.

A stunning 15.6 inches IPS screen at 4K resolution greets the user, and looking under the hood, the ultrabook is also equipped with desktop-level graphics card, a Nvidia GTX 960M 2GB, to push pixels to the awesome screen. Graphics processors of this range are extremely rare in the ultrabook market and it’s nice to see a change for once. It would be interesting to find out how ASUS keeps such a powerful beast cool in such a slim body.

The processor is Intel i7-4720HQ clocked at 2.6GHz with up to 3.6GHz Turbo. Once again ASUS has used a component which is very uncommon in ultrabook confgurations. Most ultrabooks are powered by measly low voltage chips, but this is a full quad core with HyperThreading running at 2.6GHz. Heck it’s even faster than certain gaming laptops. Up to 16GB DDR3 RAM is also configurable along with a 512GB PCIe-based SSD which ASUS claims will reach write speeds of up to 1400Mbs.

Thunderbolt 2.0 port also provides an interface for high-speed connections for display devices, external storage, and other peripherals.

With pricing ranging from from 1799USD to 1999USD, let us compare it with the new MacBook Pro 2.9Ghz.
