ASUS ZenFone 5 receives Android 9 Pie update
ASUS has begun rolling out Android 9 Pie for their mid-range ASUS ZenFone 5. While ASUS promised Android 9 Pie in late January 2019 for their flagship ZenFone 5z, so it seems that the updates are all well on track.
The update will bring the Snapdragon 636-packing ZenFone 5 onto the latest variant of Android. ASUS has customarily included a lot of the core optimizations built into each Android version, so we expect to see no different this time around.
As usual, the update will be delivered to devices OTA gradually, but if you are impatient you can always download the update and install it manually. All you have to do is:
- Download the update
- Move the update to the microSD
- Enter recovery mode (hold volume down + power button simultaneously)
- Select “apply update from sdcard”
- Select the update file, confirm and you are set
If you are more patient you can always wait for the update to arrive on your device. It shouldn’t be too long now before every ASUS ZenFone 5 gets updated to Android 9 Pie.
