ASUS Malaysia just announced the availability of their ASUS Zenfone Max, a mid-range smartphone packing a gigantic 5000 mAh battery, claimed to be good for 38 days of standby time. In fact it can even double as a powerbank to charge other phones in a pinch!

ARVE Error: need id and provider

Cheesy ad videos aside, the Zenfone Max’s amazing battery life is also partly thanks to the power-sipping Qualcomm SD410 1.2 GHz quad core CPU which is paired with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. This combination strikes the perfect balance between power efficiency and performance. LTE Cat4 connectivity offers download speeds up to 150Mbps. 16GB of internal storage comes standard, expandable via microSD up to 64GB.

Having a large battery doesn’t mean it has to be ugly. It is a svelte looking phone, measuring only 10.55 mm thin with a metal-effect bezel for that premium touch. The rear features an embossed leather feel to enhance grippiness and improve the overall outlook. Protecting the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 4 so you should be well protected from scratches and cracks on the front surface.

The Zenfone Max will be available in black and white for RM 899.

Pokdepinion: The Zenfone Max will definitely be a good phone for business users who do not need the ultimate performance available but absolutely require to be connected to their contacts at all times. We can’t wait to throw our usual usage conditions at it and see how long does it take to finally finish the battery.
