Yesterday ASUS has officially announced three new ASUS Zenfone devices, two of which has already been reviewed by us at Pokde.net, but our interests are piqued by the remaining device, the ASUS Zenfone MAX.

The ASUS Zenfone Selfie, (read Pokde review on the ASUS Zenfone Selfie here) has officially been announced but there’s a new variant offered, the Crystal Diamond Edition which is similar to the ASUS Zenfone 2 Deluxe edition. The ASUS Zenfone Selfie comes with 13MP cameras on the front and the rear, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, 3GB LPDDR3 memory and 3000mAh removable battery. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and is shortlisted to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

The ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser,(read Pokde review on the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser here), unlike the one we review, the announced ASUS Zenfone Laser will have a 6 inch IPS display, bigger than the 5.5 incher we reviewed. The processor will also receive an upgrade from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, and most of the other specifications are similar with the device we reviewed, which means a 13MP rear camera with laser focus system and 3000mAh battery. It run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and is also shortlisted to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Both the ASUS Zenfone Selfie and ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser (6.0″) will cost 1699 yuan (approximately MYR 1199) while the ASUS Zenfone Selfie Crystal Diamond Edition will cost 1799 yuan (approximately MYR 1299).

Now the third device, which piqued our interest, the ASUS Zenfone MAX. It has a 5.5 inch IPS display, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chip. Do not look down upon the Snapdragon 410 though, as Vyncent had reviewed some Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 devices, but he finds that none of the phones equipped with the Snapdragon 615 was as smooth as the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser which also packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, and the ASUS Zenfone MAX will most likely enjoy the same optimizations done on the Laser.

The ASUS Zenfone MAX also comes with a 13MP camera with laser auto focus system like the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser and Zenfone Selfie, but its most prominent feature is the large 5000mAh battery which also support fast charging features, and can probably charge the battery up to 60% in just 39 minutes. ASUS claims that with the huge battery capacity, it will provide at least 37 days of standby and three days of normal usage. Surprisingly, the ASUS Zenfone MAX will cost 1299 Yuan which is approximately MYR900, This might be a very popular phone here.

Pokdepinion : The ASUS Zenfone MAX offers passable performance with the power-sipping Snapdragon 410, coupled with the massive 5000 mAh battery, this phone might be very suitable for those who seek crazy-long battery life over blazing fast performance. Also don’t forget the 13MP camera coupled with the laser autofocus system which proved to be quite good in the Zenfone 2 Laser. All that for approximately RM900?
