Cyberjaya and Putrajaya to Become 5G Network Testbed for Malaysia

It looks like Malaysia will be seeing 5G Network earlier than anticipated. The Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Gobind Singh Deo, has announced that both Putrajaya and Cyberjaya will become a testbed for 5G Network in Malaysia.

It’s no surprise that Cyberjaya will be one of the earliest places to get 5G Network, even if it is just for testing purposes, in Malaysia as that place is also known to have one of the earliest high speed internet access in the country.

This 5G Network is expected to utilize low frequency bands and give speeds that are noticeably faster than 4G LTE, which is becoming more and more common in today’s world. At its peak, it is expected to be able to reach speeds up to 20GBs per second whereas 4G LTE will see it peak at 1GB per second. But of course, the consistent speed will depend solely on the network provider.

At the moment, not much is known yet about this move except for the fact that it is expected to begin soon. With that in mind, we expect to hear more about this sooner rather than later. If you’re one of the people living in either Putrajaya or Cyberjaya, you definitely want to keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Pokdepinion: Well, I certainly didn’t see this coming, not so soon at least. Sure, it’s just for testing but it’s still great to see. I wonder how long it will take for it to become commercially available nationwide.
