It seems that the Health Ministry of Malaysia is looking at other countries, specifically on their policies in controlling internet addiction among teenagers and youths. Bad news is that they might choose to limit our internet access.

Government To Limit Internet Access After Midnight?

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye has said that it is important to be looked at as the National Health and Morbidity Survery 2017 revealed that 34.9% of teenagers between the ages of 13-17 are indeed addicted to the internet.

The minister was answering a question from the Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni, who stressed out his concerns for both students and young adults are becoming more and more addicted to playing games and social media apps.

Dr Lee claimed that some video game providers from abroad, limit the number of hours that users under the age of 17 can play continuously. He then added that that they would require the underage users to stop playing for one or two hours. If they don’t, they would be forced to play offline.

“At present the ministry is still studying the prevalence of gaming addiction in Malaysia”, he said.

In Korea, those who are under the age of 17 are limited in using the Internet, where they can’t utilize it from 12am to 6am everyday.

Pokdepinion: I am not liking on where this is going. Please, don’t limit the internet access after midnight, that’s the only time I have for gaming!
