Grab Malaysia has just announced their partnership with UEM Sunrise Berhad. This partnership will see more stores at Publika and Iskandar Puteri adopt GrabPay as the preferred cashless payment method.

GrabPay is potentially one of the largest cashless payment methods, with nearly 50% of all Malaysians having the Grab app installed. This partnership will see UEM and Grab help merchants in Publika and Iskandar Puteri implement GrabPay to tap into this huge user base.

For GrabPay users, it means more ways to collect GrabReward points and also possibly go fully cashless at Publika and Iskandar Puteri, when the latter is complete. Going cashless has a number of benefits, among which is the ease of monitoring your expenditure directly from the Grab app.

Via this partnership with UEM Sunrise, Grab plans to augment up to 60% of Publika’s merchants with GrabPay’s cashless payment method. Aside from adding GrabPay to stores, Grab will also setup pick up/drop off zones at UEM Sunrise’s developments to make it more convenient for both Grab riders and drivers.

Grab also shared that the number of merchants on the GrabPay platform has quadrupled since launch, and GrabPay transactions rates are increasing week on week. That goes to show that Malaysians are really interested in going cashless. Or maybe they just really like GrabRewards.

Do you use a GrabPay frequently to pay for stuff other than Grab rides? Or do you have a different favorite cashless platform? Let us know!

Pokdepinion: I have tried GrabPay before at Tealive. The experience was pretty straightforward and convenient. At least I didn’t have to reach for my wallet, since my phone is always in my hands anyway.
