Well, the Honor 8 which was announced in China sometime back, is now coming to Malaysia. Members of the media are already receiving their invites to attend the launch on the 6th of Semptember. In case you forgot what the Honor 8 is all about, the Honor 8 is a real premium device which was launched in China starting from RM1200, despite featuring innovative features like the dual camera system first introduced with the Huawei P9 and a classy design sexy 2.5D glass panels sandwiching a metal frame.

Based on this slide at the China launching of the device, we know that the Honor 8 also features the Sony IMX 286 sensors used on the P9, and also seems to be in the very same monochrome + RGB sensor configuration. The only thing that is missing here is the Leica branding, but as everyone now knows, Leica was not the manufacturer of the lens anyway.

ARVE Error: need id and provider

Honor is targeting a younger crowd with the Honor 8, as seen in their choice of the ambassador for this phone, Brooklyn Beckham who is only 17. In comparison, the ambassadors for the Huawei P9 are the very accomplished Scarlett Johansson and none other than Superman himself, Henry Cavill.

The rest of the specifications of the Honor 8 is pretty much shared with the Huawei P9, with a Kirin 950 SoC paired with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage capacity. Pricing in China started from RM1200 for the 3GB/32GB variant, ranging up to RM1500 for the highest end 4GB/64GB variant. Meanwhile in the US, pricing started from $400 (~RM1608) for the 4GB/32GB variant and goes up to $450 (~RM1809) for the 4GB/64GB one. Let’s hope we get price tags on the Honor 8 which more closely resembles the ones in China than the ones in the US.

Pokdepinion: I myself have been waiting for the Honor 8. It seems like a real flagship killer with its price tag and performance level.
