HONOR has today announce the launch of PocketVision, an AI powered app that helps the visually impaired and people with low vision to read. The app uses HONOR’s AI and quad camera technology (found on the HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 PRO) to deliver a portable and affordable alternative to other magnifiers and typoscopes on the market.

PocketVision is developed by social enterprise Eyecoming and it features three key modes that help the group:

  • Text-to-Speech Mode – Powered by HONOR HiAI and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, this mode converts pictures to text faster and more accurately. It can then narrate the text from books, documents, menus, and more.
  • Zoom-in Mode – Using the HONOR 20 and HONOR 20 PRO’s quad camera lens, this mode allows users to zoom into text by using the volume buttons on their device.
  • Negative Image Mode – Provides a range of color filters to enhance text, improving the contrast of printed materials for people who struggle to see certain colors.

In addition to the app, HONOR has revealed that they’ve partnered with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to help raise awareness of the barriers blind and partially sighted people face.

PocketVision can now be downloaded today for free from today on the HUAWEI AppGallery app and it supports English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Italian and Chinese language.

Pokdepinion: Though it may not seem much of an app, it’s nice to see that the needy are getting the attention.
