HUAWEI just launched their latest mid-range devices here in Malaysia. The new HUAWEI nova 3 and nova 3i are designed for the younger generation, with a focus on selfies and other features that would appeal to a younger crowd. Priced from RM1249, the new HUAWEI nova 3 and nova 3i would also be less damaging on the wallets of today’s youths.

Both devices are equipped with dual 24MP + 2MP front cameras featuring 3D Qmoji, AI selfies and AR stickers. 3D Qmoji is HUAWEI’s take on Apple’s Animoji, allowing users to express themselves as 3D avatars. The new AI selfie feature allows the HUAWEI nova 3 and nova 3i to recognize up to 200 scenarios such as Blue Sky, Plant and Beach, and intelligently optimize for such scenes.

The HUAWEI nova 3 is the bigger brother of the duo, with a Kirin 970 chipset and 6GB of RAM inside. The double curved 3D glass on both the front and back is also very attractive. The rear cameras on the HUAWEI nova 3 are rather similar to the ones in the flagship HUAWEI P20 series, with a 24MP monochrome sensor partnered with a 16MP color sensor. Both cameras sport a wide f/1.8 aperture for better low-light performance.

Meanwhile, the affordable HUAWEI nova 3i comes with a lesser 16MP + 2MP rear camera setup. The chipset inside is the new Kirin 710, which is mated to 4GB of RAM. Despite the lesser chipset, both the HUAWEI nova 3 and nova 3i support AI enhancements for the rear camera. With the AI now recognizing up to 500 scenarios, you will be well set to take great photos. Portraits will also look better with five studio-quality lighting enhancements.

Both devices feature a 6.3″ FHD+ HUAWEI FullView 2.0 display, which looks amazing, despite the notch. Making these devices a better buy is the massive 128GB internal storage, which means the HUAWEI nova 3i to offer the most storage in its price range. Speaking of price, the HUAWEI nova 3 is priced at RM1899, while the HUAWEI nova 3i is priced at a more affordable RM1249. Both are available in a new signature Iris Purple color and a more formal black. The HUAWEI nova 3 also comes in red, while the nova 3i is also offered in pearl white.
