The HUAWEI Mate 30 series are launched without the Google services we are used to, due to the ban on US companies from dealing with the Chinese tech giant. One major concern is how will we get our apps, given that the Google Play Store is still the primary source of apps for most of us. Well, apparently it isn’t that huge of a hurdle anyway.

Damien from 9to5Google managed to install Google apps on a HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro in less than 10 minutes. Here are the steps according to them:

  1. Head to https://www.lzplay.net/ and download the Google Services Framework installer
  2. Let the installer run its course
  3. Fire up Google Play Store. You might need to restart the phone if you find yourself unable to login
  4. Download all the apps you want

They have successfully gotten Gmail, Drive and Maps to run on the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro as it would on any other Android smartphone. Even Google Pay works fine, indicating that everything is indeed well. All you need is an additional 10 minutes when setting up your HUAWEI Mate 30.

The ability to quickly and easily install Google Services Framework on the HUAWEI Mate 30 and HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro should entice more users to get the latest flagship from HUAWEI. After all, there probably isn’t any other smartphone that offers what the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro does.

I am sure there will still be those who find the additional hassle of installing the Google Services Framework manually a burden, while some would consider it a worthwhile sacrifice to enjoy what may be the best camera on a smartphone so far. What say you?

Pokdepinion: I am definitely considering the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro now. Now, for the local Malaysian pricing for the Mate 30 series…
