The HUAWEI Mate 30 series are probably one of the most anticipated smartphones in 2019, and for more reasons than one. The cameras, especially the ones on the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro, is definitely going to blow away any other flagship launched thus far. There are also those who are looking forward to see HUAWEI use HUAWEI Mobile Services (HMS), which is now in the limelight on the HUAWEI Mate 30 series, in place of Google Mobile Services.

Regardless of which camp you belong in, the HUAWEI Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro are now here in Malaysia. The latest flagships bring with them the Kirin 990 chipset. It seems we won’t be getting the even beefier Kirin 990 5G, as we are getting only the 4G variants of the HUAWEI Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro.

The highlight of the duo is of course the quad Leica cameras on the back. Both devices feature impressive 40MP primary cameras, with the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro flexing HUAWEI’s engineering prowess by using a massive 1/1.54″ 40MP sensor behind the ultra-wide camera. HUAWEI calls it their SuperSensing Cine Camera, as it powers unprecedented video capabilities, including the 7680 fps slow mo, on the HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro.

The HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro also incorporates the HUAWEI Horizon Display which curves over the sides sharply. To implement this design, HUAWEI has done away with physical volume rockers, instead using the edge of the display for volume adjustment, or also as a shutter button.
