Rumours point towards the next Huawei flagship smartphone being launched on the 18thof November with new colour options and a dual camera setup, co-engineered by Leica. If this is for real, the Huawei Mate 9 could pose direct competition for the iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Huawei Mate 9 to be launched in 4 variants with six different colour options and dual 20MP cameras

Word is spreading that the Huawei Mate 9 will be using its new in-house HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset, and pack up to 6GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. The device will come with a large display, customary of the Mate series, expected to be a 6.0″ panel with either a QHD or FHD resolution. With the recently announced joint innovation lab, the Mate 9 will feature dual 20MP cameras, most probably co-engineered with Leica. This time around, the camera is expected to come with dual tone LED flash, autofocus laser sensor, and also OIS image stabilization, something which was missing from the Huawei P9,  On the front it will be featuring a 8MP selfie shooter.

The phone might be using a huge 4000mAh battery capacity and run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat with the Huawei Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 overlay. With up to six different colour configurations, Mate 9 is likely to debut in early November starting at roughly USD 479 (MYR 2000) for the lower end and USD 700 (MYR 3000) for the higher end model.

Pokdepinion: The Huawei Mate 9 will most probably see huge gains in the camera department compared to its predecessor Mate 8. With the success of the Huawei P9, will this Mate 9 be able to continue Huawei’s winning streak and go toe-to-toe with the likes of the iPhone 7 and Galaxy Note 7?
