Straight from the Next@Acer global press conference in Berlin, Germany, Acer has introduced the world’s lightest 15-inch laptop, the Acer Swift 5. There’s also new Swift 3 laptops.

During the Next@Acer global press conference which took place in Berlin, Germany,the folks over at Acer has introduced the brand new Acer Swift 5 laptop. It currently holds the title of the world’s lightest 15-inch laptop, offering exceptional performance in an elegant chassis that weighs less than 1kg.

Powered by the latest 8th gen Intel Core i7-8565U and i5-8265U CPU, it is a power-efficient machine that runs pretty snappy. It is said to have over 10 hours of battery life per full charge. It also comes with up to 16GBs of DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB of NVMe PCIe SSD, making it a great machine for multitasking with superbly fast boot / loading times.

The Acer Swift 5 (SF515-51T) utilizes a 15-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen display with ultra-narrow bezels. With the bezels measuring in at 5.87mm, it effectively gives the laptop an 87.6% screen-to-body ratio, which will certainly be more enjoyable to view. There is also the Acer Color Intelligence which dynamically adjusts gamma and saturation in real-time and Acer BluelightShield feature which reduces blue light emissions for nighttime viewing.

It features top and bottom covers which have been constructed from magnesium-lithium alloy, which allows it to have a durable body that will not bend or twist despite its ultra-thin form.

For wireless connection, it will be utilizing a 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The Acer Swift 5 will have a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen-2 port, which can be used to charge the laptop as it supports power delivery, and two USB 3.1 Type-A ports. If you want to connect it to an external monitor, you can make use of its HDMI port to do just that.

There is also a 14-inch version of the Swift 5 laptop (SF514-53T), which is a refresh of the older version, featuring the same new processors that is powering the 15-inch version along with a similar design to its 15-inch brother with its magnesium-lithium alloy body. This one measures in at 14.9mm thin and 970g in weight.

They have also updated the Swift 3 line of laptops which now includes a 13.3-inch and 14-inch models featuring slimmer bezels, sleek aluminum design which is capable of opening 180-degrees to lay flat, and improved hardware.

The 13-inch model (SF313-51) will feature a Full HD display and integrated 4G LTE support. The 4G LTE support, It will be powered by the latest Intel Core CPU with up to 8GB DDR4 RAM and up to 512GB NVMe SSD.

The Acer Swift 3 with 14-inch displays will have two different models. The SF314-55 / SF314-55G will have a 14-inch Full HD display and packs the 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8565U / i5-8265U / i3-8145U processors with up to 8GB DDR4 RAM and up to 512GB NVMe SSD. For graphics, it will be utilizing the NVIDIA GeForce MX150 dGPU. For connectivity, it will have the 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi and a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 port, which can be used to charge the device or to connect to external displays.

The SF314-56 / SF314-56G on the other hand will feature essentially the same hardware as the SF-31455 but with a slightly larger design to make room for HDD in the laptop as well as an extra large touchpad akin to those found in 15.6-inch laptops.

Pricing and Availability

The Acer Swift 5 with 15-inch display (SF515-51T) will be available in North America in January 2019, retailing from USD $1,099; in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in November 2018, starting at €1,099; and in China, in November 2018, starting at ¥7,499.

The Acer Swift 5 with 14-inch display (SF514-53T) will be available in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in September 2018, starting at €999; and in China, in November 2018, starting at ¥7,499.

The Acer Swift 3 with 13-inch display (SF313-51) will be available in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in October 2018 starting at €799.

The Acer Swift 3 with 14-inch displays (SF314-55 and SF314-56) will be available in North America in November 2018, starting at USD $799.99 and in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in January 2019, starting at €799.

The specifications may vary from region to region so it might be different when it finally arrives in Malaysia. We’ll just have to wait and see when it lands here. Be sure to stay tuned to Pokde.net to know when it will be available here :)

Pokdepinion: Well, I still have the Acer Spin 5 and it’s working great but the temptation to upgrade is strong in this one. I need one with at least an MX150.
