It seems that HUAWEI’s upcoming chipset, the Kirin 980 is set for an unveiling at this year’s IFA 2018 awards. The announcement will take place tomorrow, 31st August 2018.

Kirin 980 Set For IFA 2018 Unveiling 27The Chinese smartphone company will be attending this year’s IFA which begins tomorrow on 31st of August 2018 and runs until the 3rd of September. They are set to lift up the lids on their latest flagship processor, the Kirin 980.

Kirin 980 will be making its debut in the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro which is set for an October 2018 launch. Not to forget, upcoming flagship devices from HUAWEI’s sister company, honor, is sure to feature the upcoming SoC.

With the new chipset, it will be HUAWEI’s first 7nm chipset and will be made up of four Cortex A76 cores as well as four Cortex A55 cores. It is set to come with a Mali GPU and a newer version of its NPU. Reportedly, the clock speed is said to be about 2.8GHz.

Pokdepinion: It will be interesting to see how HUAWEI new Kirin 970 chip will fare against Apple and Qualcomm on 7nm. Additionally, I’m quite curious on how much of an upgrade we shall see from it compared to the previous Kirin 970.
