Maybank MAE eWallet Launched in Malaysia

Maybank MAE eWallet Launched in Malaysia

At a launch event in Kuala Lumpur today, the folks over at Maybank has launched their new eWallet known as MAE. It stands for Maybank Anyone Everywhere, and is open for everyone, not just Maybank account holders.

Maybank MAE is an eWallet based on a virtual bank account. It will allow you to request cash, split bills with your friends, and go cashless with a virtual card. If you have a bank account with them, you can easily set it up via the Maybank2U mobile app. You will need to top up a minimum of RM10 in order to activate it. As it is a virtual account, it will have a separate balance from your current or savings account.

If you’re gonna register for the Maybank MAE eWallet, be sure to use the referral code: aba1207

The Maybank MAE eWallet can be topped up via online banking. Alternatively, you can also receive money via instant online bank transfers as well as cash deposit machines for a truly cashless experience. You can also easily transfer the balance from the eWallet into you bank account so no worries there. All you need to access it is the Maybank2U mobile app which is available on both Android and iOS.

It’s worth noting that the virtual Visa card will only be provided to non-Maybank customers as existing ones will have a physical debit card to use. This virtual card will be able to be used with MaybankPay and Samsung Pay. At the moment, they are working on giving people the option to convert their virtual card into a physical debit card but that will be something for a later time.

This eWallet will have a maximum capacity of RM4,999.99 with a single transaction limit of RM2,999.99. Users will not be earning TreatsPoints when using MAE to make purchases. If you are interested in giving it a try, you do not have to go to a physical Maybank branch. Just use the Maybank2U mobile app and you’re good to go. New registrants will have to verify their IC and take a selfie picture of themselves for security purposes.

Pokdepinion: More cashless options for everyone here in Malaysia. Yes, everyone, since you don’t have to have an account with them in order to use it. Hope there will be some solid loyalty programs to encourage more people to use it.
