Though MediaTek has introduced their first 5G chipset, the Helio M70 previously, it’s still not out yet in the market. Now it seems that they are planning to introduce another 7nm SoC, where it will be released for mid-range smartphones next year.

The chipset is reportedly will be mass produced in Q2 of 2020, which we could possibly see it unveiled in the next quarter.

It is said that when MediaTek is done with developing them, the company is expected to switch to TSMC’s 6nm EUV process. This would mean that it will be the first EUV product for the company. Coming in with four designs, all of them offer an upgrade on both CPU and GPU performance.

MediaTek has been reported to be aiming to release around 100 million sold chips in 2020.

Pokdepinion: Mid-rangers to be fitted with 5G modems? Interesting. Though I can hardly imagine they’d be for us here in Malaysia at the current moment.
