Apple has been known to not allow their ecosystem to open up to other devices. However, it looks Dell might be able to crack that with an upcoming feature that will be added to their line of PC / laptops via Dell Mobile Connect.

With Dell Mobile Connect, you can mirror your smartphone screen to your Dell laptop and a whole lot more. This was previously available on for Android smartphones but the upcoming update will have the same support for iPhones. This is interesting as even Apple’s own MacBooks aren’t capable of mirroring the iPhone screen on its own.

As for how Dell managed to pull this off is unknown at this point in time. As for what can be done with the app, you can easily send texts, make calls, and see notifications on both iPhones and Android smartphones. You can also drag photos, videos, and other files from your PC to your phone, and vice versa. This will work with Dell XPS, Inspiron, Vostro, and Alienware products.

Apart from that, Dell will also be releasing Cinema Guide, a streaming media dashboard for Dell PCs / laptops. It is designed as a hub for all your services, similar to Roku, but purely software. Both are expected to available sometime in Spring 2020.

Pokdepinion: It’s kinda funny if Apple isn’t capable of mirroring iPhone displays to Macbooks, but it can be done in other laptops / PCs.
