New Finding From Microsoft Cybersecurity – Malaysia’s Malware Encounter Grows

Microsoft has recently released regional findings from their global Security Intelligence Report (SIR), which found that Malaysia is one of the countries with an alarmingly increase of malware encounters.

Malaysia’s Increased Malware Encounters

In the findings, an approximate average of 12.9% of computers running on Microsoft real-time security products in Malaysia reported a malware encounter in the first quarter of 2017. It is slightly higher than the global average of 9%.

Additionally, the report found out that there was a significant decline in Malaysia’s malware occurrences compared to the first quarter of 2016. The malware encounters fell by 16.7% compared to last year.

Microsoft’s SIR gives data and insights into the global threat landscape, especially on software vulnerability, exploits, malware, and web-based attacks. In the latest version, it tracked threat data for both endpoint as well as cloud, which profiled more than 100 individual markets.

In addition to that, they also gave tips on how to reduce cyber risks exposure and gave four practices to make it safer;

• Always practice caution when you are connected to a public internet domain.
• Ensure that your software is always up to date.
• Use the latest technologies and software to ensure better security and privacy to maximize protection against threats.
• Make cyber security and data privacy policies and governance high priority in your organizations.
