Nubia is readying to bring a new contender to the sub-RM1000 market, the new Nubia M2 Play. Set to hit stores on 1st September 2017, the Nubia M2 Play is the Chinese company’s latest budget-conscious camera smartphone.

The Nubia M2 Play packs a Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor which is a step up from the ubiquitous Snapdragon 430 found in most budget smartphones. The main upgrade over the Snapdragon 430 is the X9 LTE modem which supports 300 Mbps download speeds. The SoC is paired with 3GB of RAM for a better user experience in Android 7.0 Nougat with the proprietary Nubia UI 5.0. 32GB of internal storage with support for up to 128GB microSD cards. Keeping the lights on is a 3000 mAh battery, supported by NeoPower 2.5 technology to optimize and extend the battery life of the Nubia M2 Play.

Nubia calls the M2 Play a camera smartphone, so it has to be packing some serious hardware in the photography department, right? Well, it does not have a dual-camera system that you find on every camera-centric smartphone, but the 13MP Sony Exmor RS sensor with an f/2.2 aperture should suffice for great shots. Also, let’s not forget that the smartphone with the best camera does not feature a dual-camera setup after all. Of course, hardware isn’t the only factor when it comes to great photos, and Nubia has the NeoVision 6.0 image engine with an updated Clone Camera 2.0, Macro Camera 2.0 and DNG Camera 2.0 to enhance your shots. The front facing camera is a 5MP f/2.4 one, with various beauty modes to enhance your selfies.

The Nubia M2 Play will be available in Malaysia starting 1st September priced at RM799 on Lazada, 11street, shopee and DirectD. The first batch of the device will only be offered in Matte Black.

Pokdepinion: The Nubia M2 Play is set to be a viable alternative to the various affordable smartphones in the market, with a Snapdragon 435 instead of the Snapdragon 430 to offer better LTE speeds.
