A question which have been playing on our minds is when the GeForce RTX-powered laptops will be appearing. Considering the massive inventory of Pascal GPUs that NVIDIA has to clear off, most people speculated that it should be still some time away. It isn’t that far away though.

Our industry sources cite a schedule of around Q1 2019 to Q2 2019 for laptops with the much anticipated GeForce RTX GPUs in them. The specifications of the GPUs are still vague, but considering the high TDP ratings of the desktop GeForce RTX GPUs, we might be looking at much lower clocks in the mobile variant of the GeForce RTX GPUs. Or perhaps different GPUs for the mobile and desktop segment, like what we faced before the GTX 10-series came around?

Not powered by a GeForce RTX GPU, but should have no problem handling the thermals of one.

We might be seeing the higher-end GeForce RTX GPUs appear in upcoming laptops next year before the lower end GPUs trickle out, somewhat similar to the scenario we are looking at with desktop graphics cards. Considering NVIDIA’s push to enable desktop-class performance in portable form factors with the Pascal GPUs, you can probably expect MaxQ variants to pop up later too.

Well, I always prefer a laptop that can game while being portable enough to carry around on a daily basis, rather than a desktop that sits at home. So for those of you who are like me, stay tuned as we expect more news about the mobile Turing GPUs to pop up soon.
