It looks like OnePlus has unveiled their new device, the OnePlus X, despite previously being rumored that it will be named the OnePlus Mini, so yeah, I guess we followed the wrong rabbit down the wrong hole. However, we didn’t totally miss the mark, as the OnePlus X is still the smallest device yet by OnePlus. OnePlus X is what it’s called, and I dare say this will be the best Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 device out there now.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 was used in the older OnePlus One and many other phones. like the Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 as well as the ASUS Padfone S. While getting a little old, it is still very competent, matching or even outpacing current mid-range SoCs. Despite sharing most of the specifications of the OnePlus One, the OnePlus X has lost weight and girth, and also received upgrades in certain aspects, making it a pretty competent device, especially if you consider the 5″ size, where most current 5″ smartphones pack Snapdragon 615s or Mediatek processors.

The OnePlus X’s prices start from USD 249 (approximately MYR1100) for the standard Onyx version and if you want to get one out of the 10,000 limited edition Ceramic variant, you can pay USD 350 (approximately MYR1500), which I find to be quite exorbitant for just exterior changes. Both versions support dual-SIM functionality and will be available from the 5th of November (that’s my birthday).

The OnePlus X comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, down-clocked to 2.3Ghz, a step down from the OnePlus One’s CPU which was clocked at 2.45Ghz. Despite the lower clock it should still have pretty decent performance, as it’s tried and proven in ASUS Padfone S itself. It is equipped with 3GB of LPDDR3 memory, 16GB internal storage, expandable with microSD up to 128GB. Expandable memory is something new to OnePlus, as both the One and Two didn’t come with a microSD slot.

The good looking OnePlus X comes with a 5″ 1080p AMOLED display (441 PPI), protected by a sheet of Gorilla Glass 3. The inclusion of an AMOLED display is remarkable and I bet the screen will be gorgeous. You won’t be left hanging with just getting to see amazing colors, as the OnePlus X also allows you to capture your own images with a 13MP ISOCELL rear camera and 8MP front camera.

Is the 2,525 mAh battery capacity enough? My answer would be a definite yes. The OnePlus X comes with Oxygen OS based on Android Lollipop 5.1 which is optimized for the phone and promises good battery life.  Below is a table comparing the OnePlus X against the older OnePlus One and ASUS Padfone S Plus.

Pokdepinion : For me, the OnePlus X definitely the best Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 phone, even though the SD 801 is getting quite old but it still kicking and even faster than the newer Qualcomm chips like the SD 615 or SD 617. If you are getting a new phone around MYR 1200, the OnePlus X is the phone that you must definitely consider! But before that, you must get the invitation to buy one. Money isn’t everything when it comes to buying a OnePlus, it seems.
