The realme X50 Pro 5G has just been officially announced at Madrid today, with all the trappings you would expect of realme’s first 5G flagship. It’s worth noting that they launched the realme X50 sometime back as their first mid-range 5G smartphone, but that doesn’t make the realme X50 Pro 5G any less impressive.

realme equipped the realme X50 Pro 5G with a Snapdragon 865, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and a maximum of 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. They also upgraded the battery from the realme X2 Pro’s 4000 mAh unit to a 4200 mAh battery, but that’s not the most impressive upgrade yet. By using a new GaN charger, the realme X50 Pro is now capable of the new 65W SuperDart charging, which allows you to fully charge the battery in just 35 minutes, or 60% in 20 minutes. If you prefer to go slow, you can also use a 18W Quick Charge or USB-PD chargers, or even go for 30W VOOC 4.0 charging, making it one of the most versatile flagships out there when it comes to fast charging standards.

Unfortunately the camera department seems to have been left out of major upgrades. realme is using pretty much the same camera here as they did in the realme X2 Pro. In fact it might even be a small downgrade, with the 8MP ultra-wide camera now featuring a smaller f/2.3 aperture, and the telephoto camera getting a 12MP sensor, instead of the f/2.2 aperture and 13MP sensor gracing the realme X2 Pro.

There’s also no OIS on any of the realme X50 Pro 5G’s three usable cameras, instead relying entirely on their UIS digital image stabilization, which is a downer in this segment. realme also doesn’t list 4K60 video recording as part of its features, which is most probably a mistake considering the realme X2 Pro already offered that feature. realme doubled the number of selfie cameras, while also doubling the resolution. You now get a 32MP selfie camera along with a 8MP ultra-wide angle camera in the pill-shaped cutout in the display.

Speaking of the display, realme equipped their latest flagship with a 6.44″ 90 Hz Super AMOLED display, which once again is a small downgrade from the realme X2 Pro’s 6.5″ display.

Pokdepinion: I must say, the camera is quite a bit of a letdown here…
