The folks at Xiaomi Malaysia has announce today of their brand new entry-level smartphone, the Redmi 8 which comes with several interesting features for its price tag.

Powered by a Snapdragon 439 chipset, the Redmi 8 comes with a massive 5000mAh battery under the hood. What’s interesting is that it comes with a Type-C port, something unusual at this phone segment. Though the phone comes with a 10W charger out of the box, the phone does support up to 18W of fast charge.

Camera wise, it comes with a 12MP+2MP (depth) dual camera setup at the back. As for selfies, it uses a 8MP camera on the front.

Featuring a 6.22″ Dot Drop HD+ display, the Redmi 8 comes with an aspect ratio of 19:9.

There’s two variants for the Redmi 8; 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB, with the former being at RM499 and the latter at RM599.

You can get the 3GB variant starting from the 18th of October 2019 where it will only be exclusively available through online on Shopee and Lazada.

As for the bigger 4GB variant, it will be available starting from tomorrow (12th October 2019) at Shopee, Lazada and at all Authorized Mi Stores nationwide. In addition to that, those who opt for this variant and purchase it on 12th October is entitled to a free Mi Compact Bluetooth Speaker 2, which is worth RM49 (while stocks last).

The Redmi 8 comes in three colors; Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue, and Ruby Red.

Pokdepinion: I must say, though it’s a entry-level device, what it packs is quite impressive. Probably a bargain device?
