Seagate rebranding HDD series with “The Guardian Series” — help consumers to choose their ideal drive

At the QNAP QTS 4.1 launch event today, Seagate, one of QNAP’s business partners, gave a brief talk regarding its direction change towards bigger portfolios and re-launching the company’s HDD series with a new naming convention. With the re-branding of the Barracuda HDD series, Seagate hopes that it would make it easier for consumers in differentiate and choose the right HDD for their usage. The HDD series are rebranded into “The Guardian Series”.

Seagate BarraCuda / FireCuda:

“Versatile. Fast. Dependable.” The new tagline for the BarraCuda offers the best drives for the average consumer with up to 10TB capacities. Available in two flavors, BarraCuda and BarraCuda Pro, they offer different speeds and warranty durations to fulfill every customers’ unique demands.

Available in up to 5TB capacities, the Seagate BarraCuda is available in both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factor, backed by a 2-year warranty. Meanwhile the Seagate BarraCuda Pro is available in up to 10TB capacities, and will be covered by a longer 5-year warranty. The BarraCuda Pro also comes with a 2-year rescue data recovery service, providing peace of mind for creative pros and workstation users.

In addition, Seagate has also rebranded its SSHD line-up as the FireCuda series, melding the latest NAND flash technology with a traditional hard drive for a compact blend of capacity and speeds up to 5× faster than typical hard drives, all backed by a 5-year warranty.

Seagate IronWolf:

Designed specifically for NAS, IronWolf is enhanced with AgileArray technology for optimal reliability and system performance. Optimized for server storage, the AgileArray technology features Dual-plane balance and Rotational Vibration (RV) sensors for consistent performance and reliability. AgileArray focuses on RAID optimization and power management.

Available in two options, both IronWolf and IronWolf Pro are available in up to 10TB capacities, and with a 5-year warranty for the Pro version. It also comes with a 2-year rescue data recovery service.

Seagate SkyHawk:

Seagate SkyHawk is well tuned for surveillance and 24/7 workloads, the drives are enhanced with ImagePerfect firmware, which helps to minimize dropped frames and downtime while supporting up to 64 HD cameras.

Available with up to 10TB of capacity, Seagate SkyHawk is backed by a 5 -year warranty. It also comes with an additional 2-year data recovery service, which guarantee data restoration in 15 days or less.

To better serve their users, Seagate has also promised to improve the warranty process, solving any warranty case within 2 weeks or less.

 

Pokdepinion: I am really interested with the Seagate FireCuda, with the SSD cache it will absolutely accelerate game loading, especially large Battlefield 4. In addition, the FireCuda is the only SSHD available in the market right for the moment.
