Sony Celebrates 25 Years of PlayStation With a Message to All Gamers

Sony Celebrates 25 Years of PlayStation With a Message to All Gamers

The PlayStation brand has officially turned 25 years old. The original PlayStation console made its debut on 3rd December 1994 in Japan and later in other countries. To commemorate the occasion, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan has a message for all you gamers out there.

Jim Ryan’s post looked back at the history of the PlayStation brand and his own journey with the company.

Over the past 25 years, PlayStation has stood at the forefront of gaming, and I’m honored to have been a part of the team since the early days. Supported by passionate fans all around the world, our business has grown significantly and our focus on community is more important than ever.

It’s truly humbling to see fans who grew up on PlayStation passing down their love of gaming to their children, who are now playing on PS4. On behalf of all of us at PlayStation – thank you for taking this journey with us. We can’t wait to celebrate what comes next with you!

Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO

It’s a heartfelt message from the CEO himself. While many gamers have expected the PlayStation team has been expecting something special to celebrate 25 years, it doesn’t seem like there is any. There are no announcements of any new PlayStation Experience events or any special deals / new limited edition products.

However, it is worth noting that there will be a “series of celebrations” happening throughout the week on various PlayStation channels. We’re not certain as to what this could be, we can only wait and see. We are currently in the PS4 generation with its successor expected to release in Holiday 2020.

Pokdepinion: While my family may have started with SEGA, the Sony PlayStation stuck around longer. I’ve had good memories across every console ever released by them and I hope it continues.
