Sony Expands Full-Frame Mirrorless Line Up – Introducing The New a7 III
Sony has unveiled of their latest addition to the full-frame mirrorless family with the introduction of a7 III which features the latest imaging capabilities into a compact package.

The new a7 III feature a newly developed Full-frame 24.2MP1 Back-Illuminated Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor with Evolved Image Processing, giving better sensitivity, resolution, and 15 stops of dynamic range at low sensitivities. The new full-frame model can also output 14 bit RAW format10 even in silent and continuous shooting modes.
With an updated BIONZ X processing engine, it is 1.8x faster compared to the previous a7 II. In addition of 4D FOCUS capabilities, it has 425 contrast AF points that work with a 693-point focal-plane phase detection AF system, which is inherited from the a9 model.
Besides that, their Eye AF feature is also available in the new camera, even in AF-C mode, which is helpful in situations where the subject is turning around, looking down, or in other words, obstructed. The high speed mode is available with a mechanical shutter or a completely silent shooting, adding to the flexibility of the camera. The camera can shoot continuously at up to 8 fps in live view mode in the viewfinder or LCD screen.
It also features ‘My Menu’ functionality which allow you up 30 menu items to be registered for instant recall, when needed. Protection wise, the camera is both dust and moisture resistant, although they did mentioned that it is not guaranteed to be 100% fully resistant.
The new camera also comes with Sony’s new software suite called ‘Imaging Edge’, The software provides three PC applications called ‘Remote’, ‘Viewer’, and ‘Edit’, which is available to download for free. These apps can help on live-view PC remote shooting as well as RAW development.
Sony has said that the new a7 III and the SEL2870 lens will be available in Malaysia in April 2018.
