When you want to get the best pictures out, people tend to lean on their smartphones and I can’t blame them for it. It’s easy to use and it’s always with us…unless we accidentally lose it of course. Using a DSLR or a mirrorless camera can seem very scary for the average person, especially with so many dials and settings to consider.

But you can’t deny the capabilities of an actual camera as opposed to a smartphone in terms of imaging quality if you get things right. In a bid to empower the ladies with more photography skills, Sony Malaysia launched the Alpha Girlfriends Workshop.

Sony Malaysia Presents the Alpha Girlfriends Workshop

On 4th December 2016, Sony Malaysia ran the Alpha Girlfriend Workshop, the first ever ladies photography gathering that allows the participants to learn about the art of photography and hone their skills in portraiture and food styling. Of course, you’d need a professional photographer to actually teach this kind of thing, and that’s where Mr. Wong Mun Hoo, Mr. Shaiful Baker, and Mr. Michael Chee comes in.

That’s right, Sony Malaysia brought in professional photographers from various fields to share their expertise and teach the ladies a thing or two on photography. The participants, armed with the Sony A6000 and Sony A5100 mirrorless cameras, got some hands-on experience via several activities including Henna & Mesmerizing Portraiture, Fun Decoration with Macarons and Food Styling, and Photography.

How did it feel like to be one of the few only guys to attend the workshop? A little scary at first as I honestly thought I would’ve been kicked out but thank god everyone was friendly. It was interesting to see how the professional photographers made their photography teachings, from shutter speed to playing around with the angles, so simple and easy to understand. You didn’t have to be too tech savvy to understand what was going on, and they were open to questions if you got confused.

Of course, this isn’t the only thing Sony is organizing. For the month of December itself, Sony Malaysia will be doing various digital imaging workshops, from photography like the Alpha Girlfriend Workshop to a videography sharing which is happening this Sunday.
