Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium – Comes With Upgraded Camera, Display, And Battery!

by

Remember when we wrote on the Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact? Well it turns out that Sony is releasing a new variant, the Xperia XZ2 Premium.

Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium

So what’s new with the Premium edition? For starters the camera is upgraded. Featuring dual-lens, it marks as a first for a Sony smartphone. It uses a 19MP color sensor on one side, paired with a 12MP monochrome lens. It’s selfie shooter also received a boost, being at 13MP compared to the previous 5MP.

Besides that, the display has received an upgrade, being a 5.8-inch 4K HDR display. Those who prefer the wider 18:9 aspect ratio will be disappointed though, as Sony decided to revert to a 16:9 panel here. Its has a larger dose of RAM though, with 6GB instead of the XZ2’s smaller 4GB.

Although the XZ2 Premium receives a bigger battery at 3540mAh, it doesn’t mean that it totally superior compared to its brothers. This is because with a larger screen (also the 4K HDR display), the battery consumption will most probably be affected as well. However we will not pass judgement until we test it for ourselves.

While the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium hasn’t been officially announce here in Malaysia and no confirmation of the price has been released just yet, I think it’s safe to say that it will be priced higher than the standard Xperia XZ2 variant, which costs RM3,299. Until it finally comes out, we will have to play the waiting game for more details on it.

Pokdepinion: Well since the Xperia XZ2 was already at RM3,299, I just hope that the Premium doesn’t go over RM4K. Still, the upgrade is really something.
