When the tech scene was buzzing about how the Xiaomi Mi 9 will overshadow the Samsung Galaxy S10, we were somewhat skeptical. While they still have some way to go before they can compete on the same level in terms of features, the Xiaomi Mi 9 may just be the bane of the Galaxy S10 series with its sheer value for money though.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 is now official — Snapdragon 855, 8GB RAM and three cameras for less than RM2000! 32

The Xiaomi Mi 9 has just been launched, with pricing ranging from just RMB 2999 (~RM1820) to RMB 3999 (~RM2421). The highlight specifications have already been revealed well before the launch so there probably isn’t much left to see on that end. But if you want to see, you can see it here:

Key Xiaomi Mi 9 Specifications

  • Snapdragon 855, octa-core up to 2.84 GHz, 7nm FinFET
  • Up to 12GB RAM
  • Up to 256GB storage
  • 6.39″ FHD+ AMOLED display
  • 48MP f/1.75 Sony IMX586 + 16MP f/2.2 wide angle + 12MP f/2.2 telephoto
  • 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera
  • MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie
  • 3300 mAh battery, 27W Charge Turbo, 20W Wireless Charging
  • 6 + 128GB: RMB 2999 (~RM1820)
    8 + 128GB: RMB 3299 (~RM1998)
    12 + 256GB: RMB 3999 (~RM2421)

Xiaomi packed the Xiaomi Mi 9 with all the best hardware they can muster, including the fastest wireless charging we have seen. The triple camera is also very impressive, and might actually outperform the Mate 20 Pro with the zoom camera being of a higher resolution than the Mate 20 Pro. It does however lack any IP rating, so no dunking in the pool with the Mi 9.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 will be available in Piano Black, Lavender Violet and Ocean Blue, with the 12GB+ 256GB Transparent Edition available exclusively in China.

What do you think of the Xiaomi Mi 9? Seems like an interesting purchase for those who need the latest chipset in a beautiful package, without a horrifying price tag.

Pokdepinion: Well, it wasn’t as affordable as we thought, but it is still amazing value!
