As we reported earlier, Diablo 4 will require internet connection to play. That’s not all however and we believe the information we just received plays a role in why there’s a need for it. The game will play similarly to an MMO so the world will be populated with other players.

For starters, the number of players that will appear will depend on a number of factors. Story and important campaign missions in the overworld will not be shared. For these particular situations, only a player and up to three party member will be experiencing it at a time.

When you’ve completed a core objective in campaign missions, you will then see other players in the environment. Even then, it won’t be completely populated with other gamers. Dungeons will also function similarly as you can only have up to 4 players in a party.

These changes are designed to help preserve the sense of solitude and dread that comes with Diablo 4. The idea here is that Blizzard still wants you to experience being an isolated hero in a foreign land filled with unknown horrors.

Safe areas like cities that serve as hub areas will be much more populated in comparison. This will allow gamers to group up or challenge each other in PvP fights. There will also be areas specifically designed for PvP and PvE events, which will of course be populated with other gamers as well.

If you’re the kind of gamer who likes to play solo, it was mentioned that no items will be locked behind social events. This means that even in solo plays, you can actually gain any equipment that the game has to offer. You can still participate in clan activities but not socially interact with other games if you wish. The level of social engagement will be up to you.

Diablo 4 is currently expected to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. No specific release date has been mentioned yet.

Pokdepinion: It’s a bit of an annoyance but as long as they don’t force us to subscribe to PS Plus or Xbox Live to play, I think it’s still fine. If it does come to the Nintendo Switch, I wonder if the same applies.
