Transcend has announced their very first M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, the Transcend MTE850. The latest SSD from the Taiwanese storage manufacturer utilizes the PCIe Gen3 x4 interface and is fully compatible with the NVMe 1.2 specifications. This is not the first M.2 SSD from the company, as we have already reviewed the MTS800 M.2 SATA SSD previously.

The SSD is built with 3D MLC chips, with up to 512GB of capacity on the tiny M.2 form factor, perfect for enthusiasts who want to max out their storage both in terms of speed and capacity, without taking up too much space in their clean builds.

The 3D MLC NAND used in the Transcend MTE850 offer excellent reliability and low power consumption, all benefits of the latest 3D NAND over the traditional 2D NAND. The newest 3D NAND chips also offer much faster speeds over 2D NAND. DDR3 DRAM cache and SLC caching is used to deliver the astonishing speeds of 2500MB/s (read) and 1100MB/s (write). Reliability is also enhanced by Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) error correction technology.

Like other drives from Transcend, the MTE850 will also feature the SSD Scope software for monitoring, backup and also cloning of the drive. The Transcend MTE850 M.2 PCIe SSD will be available in several capacities, ranging from 128GB to 512GB, all of which are covered by Transcend’s 3-year limited warranty.

Pokdepinion: There was no mention of pricing, but we all know speed comes at a price… and with great speed usually comes with great monetary costs.
