If you were considering to get yourself a new VR headset, you may want to hold that purchase for a bit longer. There were images that were leaked on Imgur which shows a VR headset with the Valve logo on the circuit board.

According to UploadVR, it is said that this is indeed a real project that is currently in development. The VR headset is rumored to have a 135 degree field of view. For comparison, the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Vive Pro headsets have 110 degree field of view, while the PlayStation VR has a 100 degree field of view.

It’s being that the Valve VR headset is expected to come with a display quality similar to the HTC Vive Pro, which is an AMOLED display wiht 2880 x 1600 resolution.  Images indicated that there are also two cameras on the front of the headset. These likely would be used to help keep track of some motion. There also appear to be integrated headphones.

Valve has been a partner with HTC for the Vive on Steam and a open supporter of developing VR technology for games with their SteamVR Tracking. Valve has created and released hardware in the past, like the Steam Link or Steam Controller. With Valve’s active involvement in providing tools to developers for VR, it makes some sense for them to delve into the hardware side of the business.

Pokdepinion: If this does actually become a reality, I wonder if the relationship between HTC and Valve will still be the same or if it will worsen.
